Customize the Unity Launcher on Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10

Four steps to change the Unity launcher's icon size, speed, opacity and behavior on Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 with the CompizConfig Settings Manager.

From the archive: first published in February 2012 on my old blog, Tux86’s Web Tech Blog. Versions, links and screenshots are from that time.

Hi! Here are the steps to configure the Unity launcher’s icon size, speed, opacity and more:

  1. Install the CompizConfig Settings Manager:

    sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
  2. Press Alt+F2, type ccsm and press Enter.

  3. In the CompizConfig Settings Manager window, under the Desktop section, select Ubuntu Unity Plugin.

  4. In the Ubuntu Unity Plugin, you can freely customize Natty’s launcher: its behavior, icon size, opacity and so on.

I hope this helps :-)
