How Linux Is Built

A short Linux Foundation video, based on the "Who Writes Linux" report, on how the largest collaborative project in computing history is organized.

From the archive: first published in April 2012 on my old blog, Tux86’s Web Tech Blog. Versions, links and screenshots are from that time.

Linux runs our phones, friend requests, tweets, financial trades, ATMs and more, yet most of us don’t know how it is actually built. This short video takes you inside the process that organizes the largest collaborative development project in the history of computing. Based on the annual “Who Writes Linux” report, it is a powerful and inspiring story of how Linux became a community-driven phenomenon. You can find more about Linux and the Linux Foundation at linuxfoundation.org and linux.com.
